McHenry County Bicycle Club joins in annual Members Century Ride

The McHenry County Bicycle Club held its annual Members Century Ride on Saturday, Sept. 17. There were three members participating that were riding their first century.

The event was established three years ago by Ride's director Chuck Gruetzmacher as an opportunity for members who haven't already completed a 100-mile bike ride to do so.

"This is a no-drop ride, which means that the pace will be set at a comfortable speed allowing all participants to finish the course," Gruetzmacher said.

The route is designed with rest stops positioned about 25 miles apart.

In addition, a support van is provided to carry food and mechanical equipment to assist the riders through the event.
