Girls volleyball: Rolling Meadows takes fourth at St. Viator

The Rolling Meadows girls volleyball team produced its third 'top four' finish in an invite this season when the Mustangs took fourth place at St. Viator on Saturday.

Coach Joe Di Silvio's squad went 2-3 in the 12-team tourney and now stands at 14-8.

The Mustangs posted wins over Queen of Peace (25-13, 25-21) and St. Viator (25-20 25-22).

Natalie Klancnik was the Mustangs' top server with 8 aces and she also handed out 54 assist while Mallory King had 36 assists.

Top attackers were Katie Zanocco (32 kills), Kyra Amundson (24 kills), Eleanor Errico (19), Natalie Anderson (17) and Madeline Rebsamen (9).

Errico led with 11 blocks while Macie Robinson was tops in digs with 44.

The host Lions (10-10) went 3-2 in the tourney, earning two-set wins over Proviso East, East Aurora and Larkin.

Maine East Invite: Maine West (9-7) compiled a 3-2 record with wins over Prospect (16-25, 25-21, 15-10), Regina (25-23, 25-15) and Deerfield (25-23, 25-19) to finish 13th overall.

Top contributors were Ally Block (46 assists, 27 digs), Reilly Olsen 29 kills, 23 digs) and Jessica Riedl (25 kills, 17 digs, 7 blocks).

Prospect (8-4) also went 3-2 with wins over Addison Trail, DeLasalle and Leyden and losses Maine West and Stevenson.

Kaeli Myers and Valerie Thomas each served 5 aces for the Knights while they were led on attack by Myers (45 kills), Maggie Porwit (26), Mary Mazurek (22), Mandy Withey (7) McKenna (5).

Meredith also had 7 blocks while Paige Gerber handed out 77 assists and collected 33 digs.

Leyden placed tenth in the 16-team event, going 2-3 record with wins over Deerfield and Plainfield East.

Patrycja Streminska (18 kills, 5 aces), Camryn McGee (18 kills), Jennifer Parker (18 kills), Autumn McGee (32 kills, 5 aces) and Natalie Payne ( 20 kills) helped lead the Eagles.

Belvidere North Invite: Barrington (6-10) went 2-2 and took second place in the silver division. The Fillies posted wins over Rock Falls and Grayslake North while losing to DeKalb and Genoa Kingston.
