Boys soccer: Streamwood 2nd at Hononegah tourney

Streamwood's boys soccer team took second place at the Hononegah Invite Saturday, falling to Noble Street Prep 2-1 in the championship match.

Alex Chavez scored on an assist from Aldo Lazaro in the first half for the Sabres (8-3-1) while keeper Daniel Dominugez finished with 8 saves.

Earlier, the Sabres downed Dundee-Crown 3-1 as Lazaro and Alex Herrera finished with 1 goal and 1 assist. Edwin Peralta had 1 goal and Jorge Bracamontes had 1 assist while Dominguez collected 6 saves.

In 3-2 matinee win over Springfield, Lazaro, Kristian Nimeic and Ivan Gonzalez all connected while Herrera and Peralta each added assists. Dominguez was solid again with 5 saves.

Jacobs goes 2-1: Noah Melick was the lone goal scorer for the Golden Eagles at Hononegah in a loss to Chicago Bulls Academy 2-1. Colin Walsh added an assist but the Golden Eagles bounced back with a 4-1 win over Rockford Guilford as Melick served up a hat trick while Dan Buirge added 1 goal and 1 assist. Walsh, Ryan Blanchard and Pat Murphy added assists and keeper Ethan Pickering provided 3 saves. The Golden Eagles (5-3-3) rounded out play with a 3-1 win over West Aurora as Buirge registered another goal and assist. Blanchard and Walsh managed goals while Melick and Michael Pasetes added assists. Chris Cranston manned the net with 2 saves.

Dundee-Crown splits: Despite losing to Streamwood at the Hononegah Invite, the Chargers (6-7) came away with a win over Unified Township 4-0. Jeremy Jareckyj and Julian Ajroja each had 1 goal and 1 assist while Ivan Juanechi and Dylan Voyles scored goals. Eric Martinez had 1 assist and keeper Damien Smeich in relief of Luiz Cruz in the second half mustered 1 save. Gerardo Estrada scored unassisted against Streamwood.

Elgin Academy 3, Crossroads 2: Elliott Wittmeyer led the Hilltoppers to a nonconference win with 1 goal and 1 assist while Karan Gowda and Pierson Gonzalez also added goals. Goalie Pranav Sai managed 8 saves to help Elgin Academy get closer to the .500 mark at 4-5 overall.

Westminster Christian 2, Rockford Lutheran 1: Behind Lee Grasemann and Mason Runkel's goals, the Warriors (7-5-1) came away with a nonconference win. Jacob Guge had 1 assist and keeper Ben Versluys made 15 saves.
