COD Offers New 'How the Universe Works' Class Oct. 14

The College of DuPage Continuing Education department is offering a new "How the Universe Works" class from 7 to 9 p.m. on Fridays, Oct. 14 and 21, and Nov. 11 and 18, on the College's Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

Covering a span of thousands of years and humanity's evolving concepts of the universe, this series of four classes aimed will cover early views of the physical universe to the modern day understanding based on observation and experimentation.

"This class will follow the development of people's beliefs about how the universe works from early societies' superstitious and mythical views, through the development of the scientific method and the major milestones of classical physics and astronomy from the 17th to the 19th centuries, finally culminating in our modern concepts based on Einstein's revolutionary theories of relativity," said College of DuPage Professor of Astronomy Joe DalSanto.

The fee for this class is $134 and registration is required. Lifelong learners age 55 and older pay a reduced fee of $99.
