Local churches bring 'God's Work. Our Hands.' to Elgin

"God's Work. Our Hands." Sunday, which took place Sept. 11, was an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

More than 10,000 congregations all over the country were called into action to help others.

Several churches in Elgin, including Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Zion Lutheran Church, Christ the Lord Lutheran Church, and Bethlehem Lutheran Church, spent the day working on service projects in the area.

The projects included walking dogs at Anderson Animal Shelter, picking up trash along National Street, painting at Food for Greater Elgin and Lutheran Social Services of Illinois, making gift baskets for first responders, quilting for Lutheran World Relief, and making blessing bags for the homeless in Elgin and Chicago.
