Aurora man found guilty of running stash house

An Aurora man was found guilty Tuesday of storing crystal meth, cocaine and marijuana worth as much as $1.3 million in his home.

Gerardo Contreras-Gonzalez, 24, could face up to 50 years in prison for the litany of drug possession felonies, according to a news release issued by the Kane County State's Attorney office.

Contreras-Gonzalez's home on the 500 block of North Lancaster Drive was used as a stash house for drugs that were distributed in the Chicago area, the release said.

Aurora police searched Contreras-Gonzalez's house on August 4, 2014, and found 803 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 603 grams of cocaine and 9,145 grams of marijuana and estimated the combined street value of the drugs to be between $550,000 and $1.3 million, authorities said.

Police also found two pistols and items commonly associated with selling drugs, such as a ledger, scales and packaging materials.

Contreras-Gonzalez's next court date appearance is set for 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 29. He remains at the Kane County jail, where he has been held since his arrest on $1 million bond.
