Elk Grove police pull over 474 during stepped-up enforcement

A total of 474 vehicles were stopped for violations by Elk Grove Village police during a two-week enforcement campaign, officials said.

Officers were assigned to several enforcement areas between Aug. 22 and Sept. 5. In total, they cited nine people on drug-related charges, one for driving under the influence, 15 for speeding, 45 for improper use of an electronic controlled device, and 486 for seat belt violations. Five minors were also cited for possession of alcohol and three for consuming alcohol, police said.
