Girls golf: Stevenson's Bai wins Cougar Classic

Stevenson's Joyce Bai continues to impress in her freshman season of varsity golf.

Bai fired a 72 to earn medalist honors and lead Stevenson to the championship of the Vernon Hills Cougar Classic at Vernon Hills Golf Course on Saturday.

The Patriots' 339 was four strokes better than runner-up Conant (343). Geneva (352) was third in the eight-team field, while host Vernon Hills (402) took fourth.

A four-way tie for sixth place included Stevenson's Olivia Stomberg, Vernon Hills' Faith Jung and Lake Zurich's Kelsey Kee, each of whom shot an 86. Stevenson's Olivia Hancock (88) and Gina Shanley (97) finished 12th and 19th, respectively.
