Boys soccer: Streamwood, South Elgin pick up wins

Streamwood 3, Geneva 0: Alex Chavez had 2 first-half goals in the Sabres' (4-2-1, 1-0) win over the Vikings in Upstate Eight River boys soccer action Tuesday. Rafa Gil had 1 goal and 1 assist while Alex Herrera had 1 assist. Goalie Daniel Dominguez needed 4 saves for his third shutout.

South Elgin 5, Glenbard East 1: Javier Lujan supplied the Storm (6-1, 1-0) with its fifth-straight win with 2 goals while Ignacio Acevedo recorded 1 goal and 2 assists. Also in this UEC Valley win over the Rams, AJ Kirkby and Derek Baker added goals while Jimmy Kelleher, Brian Dykstra and Christopher Stanczky each had 1 assist.

Huntley 2, Dundee-Crown 0: Aaron Ruffner and Adam Kaster found the net for the Red Raiders (4-2, 1-0) in a Fox Valley Conference win over the Chargers. Luke Loprieno had 1 assist and keepers Michael Parks and Kevin Sieb combined for 2 saves for the shutout.

Kaneland 4, Morris 2: Brian Bartholomew's 2 second half goals thwarted any comeback by Morris in a NI Big 12 East win. Angel Escontrias supplied 1 goal and 1 assist, Christian Medrano had 1 goal and John McCaffrey and Alex Dohm added assists for the Knights (2-3-1, 1-0-1).

CL South 2, DeKalb 0: Two second half goals propelled the Gators to a 5-2 mark on the year and a win over the Barbs. South got goals from Nikolas Getzinger and Joel Bennett while Joseph Montalbano tallied both assists. Keeper Brandon Gorka's first shutout of the year came on 3 saves to extend South's win streak to 5.

East Aurora 3, Bartlett 0: The Tomcats (2-4, 1-0) were able to pick up a UEC Valley win over the Hawks (0-5-1, 0-1) behind Adrian Hernandez's 2 goals. Bryan Torres had 1 goal while Sergio Simental, Ricardo Sanchez and Luis Trejo each had assists. Salvador Gonazalez earned a shutout in net.

Westminster Christian 3, Christian Liberty 2 (PK): Will DeHaan had 2 goals in a PK win for the Warriors (2-5-1, 1-0) in Northeastern Athletic action. Lee Grasemann added an assist.

Marmion 6, St. Francis 3: The Cadets (1-6, 1-0) grabbed their first win of the season in their first Chicago Catholic League action thanks to Sean Miller and his 4 goals. TJ Laurich and Ian Swindle added goals while Johan Muscutt had 3 assists. Quinn Gratz also added 2 assists.

Harvest Christian 7, Christian Life 0: Raphael DeSouza's hat trick was key in a Northeastern Athletic win for the Lions (2-1, 2-0). Zach Floyd had 2 goals and 1 assist while Patrick D'Alessandro and Owen Pisha netted scores. Antonio Nevarez had a trio of assists while Blake Nudo added 1. Goalie Matthew Baron had 7 saves for the shutout.

Woodstock 3, Burlington Central 2 (PKs): The Blue Streaks were able to edge the Rockets (2-2-3, 1-2) 5-4 in a thrilling shootout to get a Kishwaukee River win. CJ Heinz and Jack Schramme each added goals while Max Freeman had the lone assist. Keeper David Murphy made 7 saves for Central, who led 2-1 at the half.

Glenbard South 3, St. Edward 1: Will Gaston provided the only Green Wave (3-1) goal while Sebastian Mozdzen had 1 assist in a Metro Suburban crossover loss.
