Chicago Bears add depth to center, cornerback

Looking to add depth at two of the weakest spots on their roster, the Bears Sunday added former Los Angeles Rams center Eric Kush and ex-Patriots cornerback Cre'von LeBlanc from among players released a day earlier in final cut-downs.

They also added 6-foot-5, 264-pound, six-year veteran tight end Logan Paulsen, who did not play last year because of surgery for a turf toe injury. But the 29-year-old started 36 games the previous three years for Washington and had 66 receptions for 653 yards and 5 touchdowns. He is also considered a strong blocker and special teams player.

The 5-foot-9, 194-pound LeBlanc is an undrafted rookie out of Florida Atlantic and could help bolster a position at which the Bears' top three players are battling injuries. Starters Kyle Fuller (knee) and Tracy Porter (concussion) plus top nickel corner Bryce Callahan (hamstring) were all held out of practice last week.

Kush was a sixth-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs in 2013 and has no starts but has played in 10 NFL games. The season-ending knee injury to starting center Hroniss Grasu forced the Bears to move backup guard Ted Larsen into the middle and left little depth behind the starters.

In corresponding moves, the Bears waived tight end Khari Lee, center Cornelius Edison and cornerback Demontre Hurst. All three are eligible for the practice squad and could be added on Monday.

They're back:

Six players were named to the practice squad, leaving four openings that are expected to be filled on Monday.

Rookie seventh-round wide receiver Daniel Braverman, running back Senorise Perry, offensive lineman Jason Weaver, cornerback De'Vante Bausby, tight end Ben Braunecker and linebacker John Timu were all re-signed after being waived. Former Cardinals and Eagles quarterback Matt Barkley was also added.
