Girls volleyball: Harvest Christian 2nd, Batavia 3rd at Timothy Christian

Harvest Christian finished second, Batavia third and St. Edward fourth Saturday at the Timothy Christian girls volleyball tournament.

Harvest lost to Timothy Christian in the title match 14-25, 25-20, 25-22. The Lions previously defeated IC Catholic and Chicago Latin before losing to Timothy in pool play then beating Batavia in the semifinals.

In the championship match, Harvest was led by Mikayla Robinson (18 kills, 3 blocks), Hannah Griffith (4 blocks), Amanda Cassidy (7 kills, 18 digs, 5 aces), Hannah Murray (16 assists, 8 digs) and Candis Kaplan (14 digs).

Batavia rebounded from the semifinal loss to Harvest Christian to defeat St. Edward 25-10, 26-24 in the third place match.

The Bulldogs went 4-1 in the tournament, beating St. Edward, Chicago U-High and Westmont before losing to Harvest.

Leading Batavia (8-5) for the tournament were Sam Juarez (34 kills, 26 digs, 7 aces), Sara Prier (6 blocks), Payton Sachse (30 digs), Sierra Leatherman (20 digs, 10 aces) and Jenna Garrett (63 assists).

St. Edward went 2-3 in the tournament and was led by Dominique Washington (67 kills, 31 digs), Erin Kremer (21 kills, 26 digs), Erin Aldana (72 assists) and Brianna Lopez (45 digs). The Green Wave is now 3-5 for the season.

At Joliet Central: Aurora Central Catholic won the consolation championship over Oak Forest 25-27, 25-20, 25-21. The Chargers (10-3) also defeated T.F. South and Joliet Central. Against Oak Forest, all-tournament selection Sydney Audiffred-Zauner led the way with 17 kills and 22 digs. Hayley Decker added 9 kills and 9 digs while Sarah Elliott had 21 assists and 7 digs and Jackie Lilliwitz added 18 digs.
