Building the future at Indian Trails Library

The Indian Trails Library is in the midst of a yearlong renovation and expansion of its main location at 355 Schoenbeck Road in Wheeling.

Committed to serving its 67,000 residents during the renovation, the library opened a temporary location at 70 W. Dundee Road., Buffalo Grove, on April 1.

The library, which serves Wheeling, Buffalo Grove and Prospect Heights residents, is adding nearly 14,000 square feet to its main building, including private study rooms, larger programming spaces and dedicated training and creative spaces.

The library brought approximately 45 percent of its physical collection to the temporary location and continues to host programs by partnering with other organizations, such as Alcott Center in Buffalo Grove.

From April through June, 312 programs were attended by more than 10,000 people. The library also issued 543 new cards to residents. While the space may be smaller, the library continues to be as busy as ever.
