College of Lake County Foundation hosts scholarship gala at The Drake

Friends of the College of Lake County are invited to enjoy an inspiring evening in downtown Chicago Saturday, Nov. 5 to raise funds for student scholarships. The CLC Foundation's 2016 Scholarship Gala: Inspiring Dreams event will be held at the elegant Drake Hotel.

In Fiscal Year 2015, the CLC Foundation awarded $909,223 in scholarships and grants to 509 students. At a recent Foundation event, scholarship recipient Hannah Cassiday commented on the scholarship's impact.

"As one of six children, I could not rely on my family for financial support. The burden of paying for college was on my shoulders. My CLC Foundation Scholarships gave me the opportunity to succeed," Cassiday said.

Karen L. Schmidt, executive director of the Foundation, said, "These awards are made possible by the continued generosity of CLC Foundation donors, who provide the funding so that College of Lake County students can make their impossible dreams become achievable goals."

The gala's Diamond sponsor is First Midwest Bank. Platinum Sponsors are Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Midwestern Regional Medical Center and Legat Architects. Gold Sponsors are Baxter International Inc. and Wintrust Financial Corporation. Sponsors of the live auction are the CLC Foundation Board, The Drake Hotel and Wintrust Financial. The event's emcee will be Mike Caplan, Fox Chicago meteorologist and CLC alumnus.
