Bears trim 7 players before official cuts on Saturday

Updated 9/2/2016 6:58 PM

Though NFL teams have until 3 p.m. Saturday to reduce their rosters to the 53-man limit, and the Bears have not officially announced any moves, seven players have been trimmed according to reports.

There were no surprises among the early cuts, which included offensive linemen Khaled Holmes, Shelley Smith and Garry Williams, nose tackle Terry Williams, cornerback Kevin Peterson, wide receiver B.J. Daniels and linebacker Danny Mason (knee sprain), who was waived injured. That leaves the roster at 68.
