Oakton ranks 15th nationally for adult learning

Oakton Community College ranks 15th in nation in Washington Monthly's first list of the best two-year colleges for adult learners.

The magazine's rankings were compiled using data that included the ease of transfer/enrollment, flexibility of programs and services available for adult students, according to an Oakton news release.

Adult learners are considered to be at least 25, and 37 percent of Oakton students are at least that old, officials said. The average age of an Oakton student is 26.

With campuses in Des Plaines and Skokie, Oakton offers some 2,500 courses each term, 90 online courses each year, and associate degrees or certificates from 80 areas of study.
