The Glen Ellyn-Wheaton Chorale Welcomes New Accompanist/Ensemble Director

The Glen Ellyn-Wheaton Chorale (GEWC) is very pleased to announce that Mac Willaert will be joining the GEWC as their accompanist and ensemble director.

Mac studied music at North Central College (Naperville). He has worked extensively with Dr. Ramona Wis, who was the founding director of the GEWC! Mac's experience has included accompanying and working as a substitute director at Rosary High School in Aurora, as well as acting as assistant conductor of the choral program at North Central College, where he has directed a number of vocal ensembles. He currently is serving as staff musician at Oswego Presbyterian Church.

When Mac was asked what he was looking forward to this year, he stated, "As a long-time choral musician, I am so endlessly excited and optimistic about what lies in store for the Chorale and Ensemble. Having had the chance to interact with the group a bit, I feel very strongly that the group can head in a very strong direction, and I can't wait to get started with these singers."

The Chorale's fall session begins on September 6, 2016. Greg Wheatley, the music director announced to the Chorale members that, "It will be a brass year! Who doesn't love a good brass group at Christmas? As our centerpiece this year, we'll sing John Rutter's Gloria." Wheatley advised that there will also be a medley of familiar carols for choir and brass arranged by Randol Bass.

Mark your calendars now for the GEWC December concerts (December 2 at 7:30 PM and December 3 at 3:00 PM), College Church, 335 E. Seminary, Wheaton, IL. Visit the Chorale's website at www.gewchorale.org for more information.
