Women's volleyball: Harper wins big one on the road

Playing at No. 9-ranked Rock Valley on Tuesday, the No. 6 ranked Harper College women's volleyball team came away with a 25-14, 25-15, 25-11 victory.

Kathryn Novy (10 kills), Ellie Burzlaff (7 kills), and Sarah Udoni (6) led the Hawks on an attack directed by Buffalo Grove alum Katelyn Sommers, who handed out 24 assists.

Sommers, also a standout badminton player at BG, was 18-of-18 serving with an ace while teammate Ariana Chelini was 14-of-14 with 3 aces.

Novy and Emily Huprich each added 2 aces for the visitors.

Novy led with 4 blocks while Marielle Lugo and Udoni each had 2.5.

Kayla Mayer paced the back row with 17 digs.

"We played very well this match," said Harper coach Bob Vilsoet. "This was a good win to have."
