Boys soccer: Malinowski, Mariscal lead Wheeling's win

Host Wheeling scored three times in the first half on its way to picking up a 4-2 victory over Cary-Grove on Saturday in a nonconference boys soccer matchup.

Konrad Malinowski and Jose Mariscal both finished with a pair of goals for the Wildcats, who won for the second straight day and improved to 2-1-1 overall.

Rivaldi Araujo had a pair of assists for Wheeling.

• New Trier scored twice in the second half to pick up a 2-0 victory over Buffalo Grove in invitational play hosted by the Trevians.

Boys golf

St. Viator's boys golf team rose to the top of the 12-team invitational it hosted on Saturday at Old Orchard.

The Lions shot 300 on the par-70 course, topping St. Charles East and Normal Community, which both finished at 304.

Edwardsville's Ben Tyrrell had the low score, a 6-under 64.

St. Viator had Timmy Crawford finish second at 69, and Sean O'Grady was seventh with 73.
