Gurnee car wash benefit canceled, blood drive goes on

Rainy weather Saturday canceled the Riddick's Ride Foundation car wash for people with rare and complex medical conditions, but the partering Heartland Blood Center blood drive did go on.

Between 40 and 50 blood donors were expected by the end of the event.

"We will be having a rain-date reschedule within the next couple of weeks for the car wash at the Gurnee Police Department," said Nicky Fletcher, secretary of the Riddick's Ride Foundation.

Heartland Blood Center handed out a certificate for a free pint of Baskin Robbins ice cream to every donor.
