Where are environmentalists as forest fires rage?

Every day television shows forest fires raging somewhere in the West. Each audio report tells us that only a fraction of the fires are under control with even more breaking out.

Daily images show an occasional plane dropping pink fire retardant for about 10 seconds and departing the scene. Sometime later a helicopter appears and does the same. This pattern is repeated as these conflagrations continue to rage.

Instead of this sporadic attack can we not recommission several hundred of the thousands of retired military and commercial aircraft to accommodate tons of retardant to drench areas vulnerable to this climate changing effect? Since billions of dollars are at risk shouldn't millions be invested to end this ongoing national disaster?

Where are the environmental advocates on this front, those who could be losing their fight with the deniers of the cause of this warming effect in spite of irrefutable scientific evidence?

Who's in charge here?
