Safely dispose of drugs at Lake County police departments

As part of International Overdose Awareness Day, Aug. 31, local police departments are reminding residents there are prescription drug disposal boxes available in their towns. The Lake County Underage Drinking and Drug Prevention Task Force disposal program, in partnership with the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County, collected nearly 12,000 pounds of prescription medicine with an estimated street value of $750,000 in 2015. To find a disposal box and a list of accepted items, visit http://www.drugfreelakecounty.org/. Boxes also are available the three Walgreens locations: 780 Waukegan Road, Deerfield; 15 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove; and 1811 Belvidere Road, Waukegan.
