BACOA addresses health concerns for seniors

The Barrington Area Council on Aging is hosting its informational series "When I'm 64" to help adults address topics of concern from 7-8:30 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 12, 19 and 26, in Meeting Room Side A at the Barrington Area Library, 505 Northwest Hwy., Barrington.

"We cover the basics of Medicare health insurance and Social Security and some topics of transition that concern adults," said BACOA's Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) Counselor Dian Vos Hansen. "We present information in a relaxed setting with plenty of time for questions and answers."

The program is slated to feature guest experts on the following topics:

• Sept. 12: "Welcome To Medicare!" Senior Services Coordinator for Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital Susan Grossinger will address how and when to start Medicare and how best to navigate the system.

• Sept. 19: "Will I Ever Get a Good Night's Sleep." Carolyn Potasky Rolph, Northwest Community Hospital's Sleep Center manager, will talk about sleep disorders and provide tips on how best to sleep well.

• Sept. 26: "Do I Need Medicare Supplementation?" Nancy Anderson, an insurance specialist, will offer information about Medicare supplemental insurance plans and what they provide. She'll also address the Medicare advantage.

For information, contact Vos Hansen at (847) 381-5030.
