Gurnee benefit car wash set for Saturday

A Riddicks Ride Foundation benefit car wash is set for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at the Gurnee Police Department, 100 N. O'Plaine Road to raise money for people with rare and/or complex medical conditions. The event, sponsored by the Gurnee Police Explorers, will also feature a blood drive in the police department's community room from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Heartland Blood Center will give a certificate for a free pint of Baskin Robbins ice cream to every donor. The price of the car wash is $5 and donations are accepted. Apparel, raffle tickets and beverages will be available for purchase. Proceeds from beverage and snack purchases will be used to purchase toys for the Ronald McDonald House. The car wash rain date is Aug. 28. For information, visit www.riddicksride.org.
