Wheeling man accused of molesting 2 neighbors
A Wheeling man was charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault of a victim under the age of 9 and predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13 after he was arrested Aug. 8.
A boy and a girl told Wheeling police that Fernando Garcia, 27, of the 600 block of Merle Lane, repeatedly assaulted them when he lived near them while they were younger. The children lived in separate houses.
The boy charged that Garcia abused him between Oct 2004 and May 2005 when the boy was 6 years old. The girl told Wheeling officers Garcia abused her before and after school from the time she was in second or third grade until she began sixth grade.
The girl told police the assaults happened "a couple dozen times," according to a Wheeling police report.
Total bail for Garcia was set at $3 million. His next court appearance is set for 1:30 p.m. Sept. 2 in Rolling Meadows.
