Car enthusiasts check out Motors on Milwaukee

Car buffs came to the parking lot of Sears Auto Center Wednesday night to check out vintage vehicles on display during the Motors on Milwaukee Cruise Night in Vernon Hills.

The event is put on by Vernon Hills police officers Santos Rodriguez and Dan Mead in conjunction with BVG Motorsports and runs the last Wednesday of the month from May-September.

While the event usually draws about 120 cars, Wednesday night was a little slow due to rain most of the day.

Canned food was collected for the Vernon Area Food Pantry, and clothing was collected for the Midwest Veterans Closet in North Chicago.

The next cruise night will be Wednesday, Sept. 28, at the Hawthorn Mall parking lot lower level on the east side of Sears.
