District 54 launches new website

School District 54 is excited to launch its new, user-friendly website today.

The site was specifically designed to offer parents, students, employees and community members an easy way to stay informed on all matters related to School District 54. It is one of the communication tools we use to help our constituents stay connected to our schools.

A few of the new features include the following.

• Each school will continue to have its own website, which is customized to the needs of their students. From these websites, parents have easy access to school-specific events and news.

• The site adjusts its layout based on whether you are viewing it from a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer. With responsive design, no matter how you visit the site, the navigation and use will be compatible.

• The news on the district home site and school sites include the most recent news posts. However, by clicking on the News menu, visitors to our site will be able to access older stories through both the category and archive links.

• The staff directory on the district site and each school site, include the phone numbers and emails for employees. The directories also offer a feature that allows you to search both by name and job responsibility.

• The calendar on the district site and each school site is a Google calendar, which will allow people to subscribe, thereby putting all of our events on your personal Google calendar with a couple of clicks.

• The website offers a number of Popular Links on the home page. However, additional information is available by clicking on the Resources menu. The menu is offered either on the left side of your screen or by clicking on the word Menu on the top left side of the screen if you're viewing it on a smaller device, such as a smartphone. Resources include School Board information, curriculum, registration, transportation and so much more.

• District 54 has won transparency awards for its former website. We strive to maintain those standards by sharing a plethora of information, and hope that we have organized this information in a manner that makes the site easy-to-navigate.

• Interested in getting district news sent directly to your inbox? Visit the Visions Newsletter page on our website sd54.org/email-signup and enter your email address to sign up for the enewsletter sent after every School Board meeting.

Improving our website is an ongoing process. If you have any suggestions to enhance our website or feedback you would like to share, please email contact@sd54.org. Thank you.
