Girls volleyball: Larkin tops St. Edward in 3

Natalie Kofie had 7 kills, 11 digs and 23 assists while April McGhee added 9 kills and 5 digs as Larkin opened the girls volleyball season Tuesday with an 18-25, 25-23, 27-25 win over St. Edward.

Kayla Armour added 8 kills and 4 digs for the Royals and Mackenzie Malon had 11 digs.

Dominique Washington led St. Edward with 23 kills and 11 digs while Erin Kremer added 12 digs for the Green Wave.

Huntley d. CL Central: Alyson Dion (7 kills), Aleah Amelio (3 kills), Caitlin Thorelius (3 kills), Taylor Jakubowski (10 kills, 12 digs) and Sarah Zayas (11 digs) led Huntley to a 25-23, 28-26 season-opening win.

Naperville Central d. West Aurora: Gillian Jones had 8 kills and 7 digs and Ali Green added 8 digs for West Aurora in a 17-25, 25-18, 25-23 nonconference loss. Kayla Battle added 7 blocks for the Blackhawks.

Dundee-Crown d. Hampshire: Emma Brant had 8 kills and 4 blocks, Ayana Gard 14 digs and 5 kills and Ali Buckley 5 kills and 11 digs to lead the Chargers to a 25-16, 21-25, 25-20 Fox Valley Conference win. Buckley added 23 assists for D-C and Zoe Sitarz had 13 digs.
