Special Des Plaines meeting on safety prompted by lockdown

Des Plaines police will discuss the Rose Avenue lockdown of last Thursday and other recent public safety incidents in the city's 3rd Ward during a special meeting scheduled for Wednesday.

Police Chief Bill Kushner and other police department representatives will discuss safety in the neighborhood and be available to answer questions from residents, according to Alderman Denise Rodd.

A 7-hour standoff with an armed, suicidal subject was resolved peacefully last Thursday night after gas grenades were deployed into the man's house, forcing him to come out.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, in Mountain View rooms I and II of the Prairie Lakes Community Center, 515 E. Thacker St.
