What is 'right direction' for the country?

Polls indicate that many of the American voters think the country is headed in the wrong direction. This headline is often used by the opposition political party to imply that people feel the current administration does not heed the voice of the electorate. There is a flaw in this reporting of "fact".

The initial question is never followed up by asking, "What direction is the wrong direction?"

I, as a Democrat, think the Republican party is sending this country in the wrong direction by its refusal to allocate funds for the rebuilding of our crumbling infrastructure, its refusal to recognize global climate change, its promoting of restrictive voting laws, its curtailing of women's control of their bodies, and its "religious freedom" laws.

So, when you see or hear the statement that voters think our country is going in the wrong direction, ask yourself, do all of these voters think it is in the same wrong direction. I think not.
