A Des Plaines man will face gun charges after creating a standoff with police that began yesterday morning and was resolved peacefully around 6 p.m., police said. The neighborhood, on the 1000 block of Rose Avenue, was on lockdown while police negotiated with an armed and suicidal man who had texted family members pictures of himself with a gun to his head, Police Chief Bill Kushner said. Waukegan men accused of robbing landscaping crew in Lake Forest
A cellphone might have been mistaken for a gun when two men robbed a landscaping crew of a leaf blower yesterday in Lake Forest, police said. Police received a call of an armed robbery at 1:20 p.m. on the 400 block of Linden Avenue, where landscape workers said they were approached by several men who showed a black gun before taking the leaf blower, police said in a news release.
