Sherman offers open house for new kid-friendly emergency department Saturday

The community is invited to get a sneak peek of the new Kid-Friendly Emergency Department from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 20, at Advocate Sherman Hospital, 1425 N. Randall Road in Elgin.

During the open house, attendees can tour the new family waiting area and exam rooms, meet emergency department physicians and nurses and learn about Sherman's partnership with Advocate Children's Hospital to provide high quality, pediatric emergency care.

"We believe kid-focused care starts with a kid-friendly environment to make a trip to the emergency room a little less scary for kids and their families," said Dr. Steven Zahn, medical director for the emergency department at Advocate Sherman Hospital. "Our partnership with Advocate Children's Hospital allows us to provide 24-hour pediatric consultations and advanced pediatric care, close to home."

Open house activities include face painting, balloon animals, a DJ, "get well" card making, giveaways and more. All attendees who complete an activities passport will be entered in a drawing for four tickets to a Cubs game.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, call (800) 3ADVOCATE or visit advocatehealth.com/sherman.
