Advocate Sherman's 'Music by the Water' to fund Musicians Care patient program

On Sunday, Aug. 28, Advocate Sherman Hospital and the Advocate Charitable Foundation will be hosting "Music by the Water" from noon to 3 p.m. on the hospital's lakeside terrace, 1425 N. Randall Road in Elgin.

Now in its sixth year, Music by the Water raises funds for Sherman's Musicians Care program, which brings an Elgin Symphony Orchestra quartet to the hospital and Advocate Sherman West Court every week to play music for patients and families.

"Music by the Water" offers live entertainment, food and drinks overlooking the geothermal lake on the hospital's campus. Performing will be area band Smokin Gunz, the Elgin Symphony Orchestra affiliated Moeller Cello and Guitar Duo, and The Moonlighters, a band of Sherman physicians. New this year, guests will be able to participate in line dancing.

"I believe music soothes the soul and aides the healing process" said Dr. Jay Rosenberg, plastic reconstructive surgeon and harmonica player with The Moonlighters. "Music by the Water is not only a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon, but the funds provide healing music for patients and families all year."

Sponsored by local physician practices, businesses, Sherman associates and community members, the event's two major sponsors this year are Illinois Cancer Specialists and Midwest Radiation Oncology Specialists.

Tickets are available until Monday, Aug. 22, by contacting Mary Kay Moersch at mary.moersch@advocatehealth.com or (224) 783-2500. For information, visit www.advocategiving.org/MBTW.
