Sewer break causing minor problems at Union Station fixed

Amtrak has fixed a sewer break that caused riders who use the north concourse at Chicago Union Station to tweak their entrance to the facility Monday afternoon.

Metra had advised Milwaukee West, Milwaukee North and North Central Service passengers to enter through the Great Hall, the upper level at Adams Street, or through the Metra ticketing area.

The problem affected a connecting hallway on the lower level of the station.

Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari said the north concourse was open, as was access between north and south concourses. The detour meant another four minutes or so of walking, he said.

"Most of our customers do not come that way and it's only a minor detour if they do," Metra spokesman Michael Gillis said.
