Cornhole boards turned into art in Wauconda

While strolling along Main Street in downtown Wauconda, residents and visitors viewed decorated cornhole game board sets created as part of the fifth annual Art On Main exhibition.

"I love them. I think they're very creative and very fun. These are different and unique and not one is the same," Michael Jaroscak of Grayslake said Tuesday, as he looked at the artwork with his daughter, Charlie, and year-old son, Teller. "They would be fun for backyard play to play a little bags."

Main Street Attraction organized this year's art project with colorfully painted wooden, beanbag-toss boards like those typically played at tailgate events and backyard parties.

The 15 sets of boards, each sponsored and hand-painted by local businesses and organizations, are set up along Main Street for the summer. The creations include cats, cars, and famous actors.

The boards will be part of a streetwide cornhole tournament and then auctioned off Thursday, Sept. 8, during the Wauconda Farmers Market. Organizers expect to raise more than $3,000 for downtown beautification projects.
