Brother Jacob sings the blues at Harper

Harper College will host a free back-to-school outdoor blues concert featuring Brother Jacob and His Blues Crew from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at the outdoor pavilion, behind Building D, on the college's main campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road in Palatine.

Chicago blues singer Jacob "Brother Jacob" Schulz has performed in famed events and venues such as the Chicago Blues Festival, Jay Pritzker Pavilion, South Shore Cultural Center, Buddy Guy's Legends, Harlem Avenue Lounge, Rosa's Lounge and Lee's Unleaded Blues.

He learned to love the blues at an early age when his baby-sitter turned on Pervis Spann "The Blues Man" on WVON-AM radio.

Free dessert and beverages will be provided while supplies last. Lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets are welcome, though no alcohol is permitted. Parking is available in lots eight to 11.
