Olympic trainer to speak to Glenbard student athletes

The Glenbard Parent Series is partnering with the athletic department at all each Glenbard high school and the DuPage County Health Department/Prevention Leadership Team to bring Olympic trainer and sports psychologist Nicole Detling to the Glenbard high schools for Defining Character On and Off the Field.

Character is one of the key personality qualities we hope our children are learning through sports. Yet, we often fail to recognize that poor character can be learned through sports, as well. Coaches and parents may be the most important influences on our student athletes' character growth.

Detling will discuss the signs of character building and strategies to ensure student athletes are learning positive character attributes.

Glenbard students in fall sports and their parents/guardians must attend the Parent and Athlete Sports Orientation meetings.

Detling will speak on the following dates:

Tuesday, Aug. 16

6 p.m. in Glenbard North auditorium

7 p.m. in Glenbard South auditorium (Note: this is a revised start time)

Wednesday, Aug. 17

6 p.m. Glenbard East auditorium

6:30 p.m. Glenbard West auditorium

Detling is an assistant professor in exercise and sport science at the University of Utah.
