On-the-rise Timberwolves get Christmas Day game at Thunder

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Here's the surest sign the Minnesota Timberwolves are an up-and-coming team: They'll play this year on Christmas Day.

The NBA revealed the regular season schedule Thursday, including Minnesota's game at Oklahoma City in the league's annual five-game marquee for the Dec. 25 holiday. That's one of 19 Timberwolves games on national television.

Minnesota starts the 2016-17 slate Oct. 26 at Memphis. The opener at Target Center will be Nov. 1 against the Grizzlies.

Games against Chicago have increased intrigue, with former Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau taking over the Timberwolves. They'll play at Chicago Dec. 13 and in Minnesota Feb. 12.

Defending NBA champion Cleveland makes its lone visit with former Wolves star Kevin Love to Minnesota Feb. 14.

The Wolves have 12 of their last 17 games on the road.
