New interim principal named for North School in Des Plaines
Denise Fernandez has been named interim principal of North Elementary School in Des Plaines Elementary District 62 for the 2016-2017 school year, officials said Thursday.
She replaces Howard Coleman, hired in 2013, who recently took an administrative position with Hazel Crest Elementary District 152½ in the South suburbs.
Fernandez has been assistant principal at Chippewa Middle School for the last eight years. She began her teaching career at the high school level, and spent more than 20 years teaching junior high school in Schaumburg while also holding leadership positions.
"North is an outstanding school and I am excited to be part of a team that is focused on continuing the advancement of student success," she said in a news release.
