Lake County sheriff's deputy hurt in Waukegan heroin bust

A detective with the Lake County Sheriff's Gang Task Force underwent surgery to repair his ankle after he was injured during a drug arrest, police said Saturday in a news release.

Phillip Trotter, 27, of the 2000 block of Glen Flora Avenue, Waukegan, was charged with four felonies. He is being held in the Lake County jail on $150,000 bail.

Police say Trotter sold heroin to an undercover detective on Thursday in Waukegan, and struggled when officers arrested him. Police say they also found a package of cocaine during a search.

Scheduled to appear at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in courtroom C-120, Trotter faces two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, unlawful possession of heroin, unlawful possession of cocaine, and resisting arrest resulting in injury.
