Schaumburg Township hosts sixth annual Community Wellness Day Aug. 17

Schaumburg Township, along with many event sponsors, is hosting its sixth annual Community Wellness Day on Wednesday, Aug, 17, from 2 - 6 p.m., at the Schaumburg Township Building, 1 Illinois Blvd., in Hoffman Estates. Residents can attend this free event that will provide a wide-range of free health screenings, and health and safety information from over 30 vendors. This year's event is offering the following:

• Free fall risk assessment and blood pressure screenings by Northwest Community Healthcare (NCH)

• Free skin cancer screening by Arlington Dermatology/NCH (by appointment)

• Free Macular Degeneration/Diabetic Retinopathy eye screening by Schaumburg-Hoffman Lions Club

• Free Hearing and Otoscope screenings by Sam's Club

• Free Memory screening by Village of Schaumburg Division of Public Health and Nursing (by appointment)

• Free total cholesterol screening by HealthQuest Homecare (by appointment)

• $12 A1C (90-day blood sugar screening) by Schaumburg Township Community Nurse/NCH Josie Gould

• TDAP and Flu vaccines by Village of Hoffman Estates Health and Human Services (Free with Medicare Part B or $25-$25 cash or check only)

• Hand massages by Estelle Skin Care and Spa/NCH

• Chair massages by Access Healthcare Clinic

• Free giveaways and a chance to win several raffle prizes

This year's event is sponsored by Schaumburg Township Clerk Timothy M. Heneghan and Officials, Northwest Community Healthcare (NCH), Cook County Commissioner Timothy O. Schneider, Illinois Telecommunications Access Corporation (ITAC), Athletico, Comfort Keepers, Great Elgin Family Care Center/Streamwood Community Health Center, Divvy Dose, HealthQuest Homecare, Open Doors Organization/Open Taxi and Home Instead Senior Care.
