Walkup should be ashamed of taking pension
County Board Chairman candidate Michael Walkup needs to be walked out of public office for signing up for a full-time pension and health care for a part-time job.
At the same time, he is a full-time trial lawyer probably charging hundreds of dollars an hour. I think that he could put a little of that away for his own personal retirement fund. Instead, he wants to put that burden on the overtaxed taxpayers of McHenry County. Then you wonder why people are leaving this county and state in droves.
I, myself, have a pension from another municipal pension fund that I had to work 40-plus hours for more than 30 years to get my pension.
Nothing gets myself and my fellow pensioners more upset than someone like Walkup who is working the system to fill his pockets at the expense of the overtaxed taxpayers of McHenry County.
