New teachers union president in District 207

Stefan Panzilius, a Maine West High School chemistry teacher, has been elected as the new president of the Maine Teachers Association, the union that represents teachers at Maine Township High School District 207's three schools.

Panzilius replaces Mike Poehler, an art and photography teacher at Maine West.

Panzilius is entering his 20th year at District 207, having spent most of that time at Maine West. He served on the union's contract negotiations committee twice.

He has been a scholastic bowl coach, supervisor to the chess club, and is currently sponsor of Maine West's adventure club.
