Renovations Coming to Schaumburg Library

A new look is coming to the Schaumburg Township District Library beginning this autumn. Major renovations, designed to accommodate the changing ways in which the community uses the library, will take place on the first floor of the central library, 130 S. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg.

"We're excited about the new design and the opportunities it will afford our patrons," said Executive Director Stephanie Sarnoff. "The area currently known as the Audiovisual Theatre, as well as parts of the lobby, will be getting a fresh look, including a new program room and new shelving for easy browsing. There will also be a lot of seating and furniture for individuals and groups looking to collaborate."

Work is expected to begin right after Labor Day, and should be complete in December. The library's Board of Trustees approved a budget of $1.4 million for this project at the April meeting.

Sarnoff said the renovations are part of a master plan to create a "comfortable, inviting space where patrons can relax and enjoy the company of others, settle in and get some work done, or browse new materials." There will also be increased WiFi capabilities in the renovated areas, she added.

A floor plan showing the projected renovations is available on the library's website at www.schaumburglibrary.org.
