Bartlett kicks off four-day National Night Out celebration

A multiday celebration of National Night Out by Bartlett police and citizens kicked off Friday with a Twilight Skate Park Bash hosted by police, the Bartlett Park District and the Bartlett Fire Protection District.

National Night Out, held the first Tuesday in August, is designed to heighten crime and drug abuse prevention and strengthen police-community partnerships. Most communities celebrate for one day - Bartlett does four.

On Saturday, there is a blood drive and prescription drug drop-off, canned/packaged food and school supplies collection. Saturday night is the Block Party and Lighting Competition.

On Sunday, the village will host its annual National Night Out Chip, Putt & Drive Crime Out of Bartlett golf skills competition at the Bartlett Hills Golf Club.

At the culminating event, the Picnic in the Park from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday at Bartlett Park, the village will attempt to break a Guinness World Record of 1,127 people blowing train whistles simultaneously.
