Streamwood man sentenced for striking boy

A Streamwood man who hit a 9-year-old boy playing outside his home has pleaded guilty to felony aggravated battery and been sentenced to prison.

Christopher Mota, 20, was sentenced to two years in prison in exchange for his guilty plea Wednesday, according to court records.

Prosecutors say Mota went outside his home the afternoon of Feb. 1 and began yelling at three boys, ages 9 to 11, who were playing outside. The oldest boy eluded him, but Mota struck the youngest boy in the face, prosecutors said.

Mota also pleaded guilty to a domestic battery charge pending at the time of his February arrest. He was sentenced to two years in prison on that charge and must serve the sentences consecutively, records show.

Mota, who received credit for 169 days in custody, was ordered to pay $714 in fines.
