Two suspects arrested in Rosemont vehicle burglaries

Two suspects were arrested Wednesday in connection with a string of vehicle burglaries last weekend in Rosemont, authorities said.

Rosemont Public Safety Department officers observed two people riding bicycles early Wednesday matching a description of possible burglars, officials said. After they were approached, one was apprehended, but the other fled, according to a community alert.

With the help of off-duty Rosemont officers and Des Plaines police called in as backup, officers set up a perimeter and found the second suspect hiding, authorities said.

Police believe the two are responsible for roughly 20 vehicle burglaries and two stolen vehicles in Rosemont residential areas from July 22-24. No charges had been filed as of Wednesday evening.
