Lecture looks at history of country blues hits

Get your country blues on with "A Brief History of Country Blues Hits with Roger Bain" coming to the Arlington Heights Historical Museum, 110 W. Fremont St. at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25.

Roger Bain will play songs of some his favorite blues guitar stylists from 1920s and 1930s, including Blind Blake, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Robert Johnson, Charley Patton and Mississippi John Hurt.

Roger will also throw in a few factoids and some cultural context to explain how these legends influenced rock & roll - as well as some of his own slightly off-kilter songwriting.

For the past 35 years, Arlington Heights resident and songster Roger Bain has chronicled the past and present culture in song. Join at the Arlington Heights Historical Museum as he plays selections of the country blues greats and his own compositions.

Cost is $10; free for Historical Society members. Space is limited, so call (847) 255-1225. to reserve your seat.
