Fox Valley Presbyterian Church invites you to register today for the fourth annual Links for Living Waters charity golf tournament and dinner. The outing will be held Friday, Aug. 26, at Mill Creek Golf Club, 39W525 Mill Creek Drive, Geneva. Golfer packages and dinner-only reservations are being accepted at www.livingwatersfvpres.org. Sign up as a single golfer or as part of a foursome.
Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 12:45 p.m. Music, dinner, prize drawings, musical entertainment and golf awards round out the event beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The cost is $100 per golfer. It includes 18 holes, cart, lunch ticket, and dinner. Register a foursome and receive a $25 discount. Not a golfer? Dinner-only reservations are $50 per person.
For over 10 years, Fox Valley Presbyterian Church has supplied water purification systems and leadership training for local villagers in Guatemala. The annual golf tournament and dinner with a prize drawing provides the primary source of funding for this mission. The church sends teams to villages in Guatemala twice a year to install clean water systems; to provide hygiene education to villagers so that they understand the importance of using clean water; and to do follow-up visits where they provide replacement parts while making sure the systems are being maintained properly. Actual system installations are done by villagers under the guidance of the church team, so that there is a strong sense of ownership of the system and so the village residents can operate and maintain the system.
