Teen charged in drug overdose case enters guilty plea

ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) - A teenage girl has pleaded guilty in Winnebago County juvenile court to charges of concealing the death of a 15-year-old drug overdose victim.

The Rockford Register Star reports (http://bit.ly/2acpxza ) under terms of the plea agreement with Assistant State's Attorney Brenda Quade, the 16-year-old, who is unnamed because of her age, faces up to three years in a juvenile prison. Her sentencing is set for Aug. 31.

The Stephenson County coroner determined that Andreayah McBain had morphine, Xanax and a third antidepressant drug in her system when she died in October 2015. The coroner says the cause of her death was "a bunch of the drugs mixed together."

McBain's burned body was found in rural Stephenson County off East Greenfield Road on Oct. 27, a day after she was reported missing by her family.
