Streamwood Summer Celebration opens Friday with music, games and more

The Streamwood Summer Celebration is returning this weekend with a carnival, bingo, children's activities, games, food/beer tent, live entertainment on multiple stages, business expo and a parade. Admission is free and details are at streamwoodsummercelebration.org.

Festival hours are 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, July 29; noon to 11 p.m. Saturday, July 30; and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 31, at Hoosier Grove Park, 700 W. Irving Park Road. The event is sponsored by the Streamwood Chamber of Commerce, Streamwood Park District and Village of Streamwood.

The parade is at 10:30 a.m. Saturday from Streamwood Boulevard and Bartlett Road, west on Streamwood Boulevard to Hoosier Grove Park. The theme is “Picnic in the Park.” A parking ban will be in effect along Streamwood Boulevard from Oltendorf Road to Madison, from 7 a.m. the day of the parade until one hour after the parade concludes. At 9 a.m., East Streamwood Boulevard will be closed from Bartlett Road to Oltendorf Road.

Unlimited carnival rides are available from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday with purchase of an $18 wristband.

Local performers are showcased at 5:30 p.m. Friday on the Children's Stage. Besides major bands, main stage entertainment will include the Jesse White Tumblers, the Streamwood Choral Society, the Streamwood Children's Choir, and hula hoop and rope jumping contests. Woody's Barnyard Races will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, 4, 6 and 8 p.m. Saturday, and 4 and 6 p.m. Sunday.
